Stevens indictment likely to make a bad year worse for GOP

Ted Stevens' indictment on federal corruption charges is likely to become another symbol of all that voters find wrong with the Republican Party in a year in which Republicans were already expecting a drubbing in congressional races. Stevens' seat itself is more vulnerable for a Democratic takeover. And while the impact on the presidential race is likely to be muted, Democrat Barack Obama has opened offices in Alaska, the first Democrat to do that in decades.
