Sabahi, Aboul Fotouh won’t endorse in runoff, raising fears Egypt presidential vote will be polarizing affair

The refusal by Arab nationalist Hamdeen Sabahi and moderate Islamist Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh to endorse either Ahmed Shafik or Mohammed Morsi complicates the decision by their 8.9 million supporters on whether to vote in the June runoff. Their supporters say neither Morsi, the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood, nor Shafik, Mubarak’s last prime minister, satisfy hopes for democratic change.
