New bombings in Iraq kill 30 as Maliki moves to take control

The new blasts struck south of Baghdad, one day after a pair of bombings in central Baghdad killed at least 95. Iraqi authorities arrested 11 police and military officers in connection with Wednesday's attacks, though it wasn't clear if they were suspected of involvement or just bungling their jobs. The government more than doubled the estimate of the number of wounded Wednesday, to 1,203.
