Iraq official says U.S. troops might be needed for a decade

The assertion by Ali al Dabbagh, Iraq's official government spokesman, in Washington set off a clamor in Baghdad and undermines Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki's pledge that the agreement will end the presence of American forces in his country by the beginning of 2012. The pact faces a popular referendum in the summer.
