Another reason to close Guantanamo: It's expensive

President Obama pointed out that it's much more expensive to keep prisoners at Guantanamo than in a federal prison in the United States. The Pentagon reports the annual cost of running Guantanamo is $116 million — about $650,000 per prisoner. By contrast, it costs about $5,575 a year to keep a prisoner in federal detention.
