Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Tuesday 3 August, 2010

Men armed with pistols fitted with silencers attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in Liqaa Square, Mansour neighbourhood, west Baghdad at 5 a.m. Tuesday. They killed all five Iraqi soldiers manning the checkpoint and then threw the flag of the "Islamic State of Iraq" (a formal name for al Qaida in Iraq) on their bodies. Two roadside bombs exploded almost simultaneously in Palestine Street, east Baghdad, Tuesday, killing one traffic police officer and injuring three civilians.
