A roadside bomb targeted pilgrims (walking) on their way to Karbala, in al Nasr neighbourhood on the old route to Baquba, east of Baghdad, Friday afternoon, killing three pilgrims and injuring another 20.
A roadside bomb targeted a funeral in Sadr city, at around 5 p.m. Thursday, killing five civilians and injuring 22.
A magnetic bomb stuck to a civilian car detonated in Tobchi, central Baghdad, at around 3 p.m. Thursday, killing the driver and injuring three people who were near by.
A roadside bomb targeted a procession of pilgrims on their way to Karbala in Zafaraniyah neighbourhood, southeastern Baghdad, at 6 p.m. Thursday, killing three and injuring 20 others.
A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy in Shamma'iyah neighbourhood, east Baghdad, late Thursday. The explosion missed the convoy and killed one civilian and injured five others.
Five civilians were injured in violence that broke out in Birtilla, a town with a Christian majority, 15 km to the east of Mosul, between Christians openly celebrating Christmas and Shabak who are Shiite and who are mourning the martyrdom of Imam al Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed, Friday afternoon.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in the coach station in central Hilla at 11.15 Thursday. After a crowd of civilians, security forces and paramedics had gathered 25 minutes later, a car bomb parked in nearby detonated, killing 14 people and injuring 73. A member of Babil Provincial Council came to the site of devastation, was taken for a suicide bomber because he was wearing a great coat, and was shot dead by a member of the Iraqi security forces, bringing the death toll to 15.
