This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.
Baghdad - Around 10 a.m. an IED exploded targeting a U.S. military convoy without knowing the damages according to Iraqi police. - Around 11 a.m. an IED exploded targeting Iraqi army convoy in Tarmiyah town north of Baghdad. 3 soldiers were killed and 2 were injured. - Gunmen raided the house of Brigadier Bassam Daham Fahad Al Ameri, the commander of the 1st battalion of the Iraqi national police, in Saidiyah. Al Ameri was killed with one of his bodyguards. - Around midday two parked car bomb exploded in Doura neighborhood. The explosions targeted a line of cars waiting to get fuel from Al Jawadein fuel station. 3 civilians were killed and 27 were injured. - Gunmen killed Abdul Kareem Leaibi, a governmental employee of the Shiite endowment, in Al Waziriyah area. - Gunmen opened their machine guns targeting a truck of Adhamiya municipality in Al Waziriyah killing one employee and injuring two who were in the car. - An IED exploded in Al Nahrawan area (south east of Baghdad) targeting civilians. 2 civilians were injured. - Around 7 p.m. a mortar shell landed in Abu Ghraib west Baghdad. 1 civilian was killed and 2 injured. - Around 7 p.m. a mortar shell landed in Zafarniyah neighborhood. 1 civilian killed and 5 were injured. - Iraqi police found 33 dead bodies throughout Baghdad today in the following neighborhoods: 5 in Shuala, 2 in Ghazaliyah, 2 in Adil, 6 (including three females) in Saidiyah, 7 in Amil, 1 in Washash, 3 in Bayaa, 3 in Waziriyah, 2 in New Baghdad and 2 in Sadr. Kirkuk - Around 5:30 a.m. three rockets slammed into the houses of citizens in Baath neighborhood, near the fire department in the city and near causing damages to houses with no human casualties. - Around 4 p.m. an IED exploded targeting a tractor in the country side of Kirkuk on a road connects Taza town to Al Basheer town. 2 civilians were injured. - Yesterday night June 17, 2007 an IED exploded in AL Nasr neighborhood in central Kirkuk targeting a police convoy. The explosion caused injures to a passing by civilian. - Around 9:15 p.m. on yesterday night June 17, 2007 gunmen attacked on foot police patrol in central Kirkuk. One policeman, Aydin Abbas, was killed and two others were killed. - Yesterday night an IED exploded under a power lines tower near the road leading to Dibis area. The explosion damaged the tower. Maissan province - Early morning today clashes erupted in Al Amara city, the capital of the province, and Al Majar AL Kabeer town, 30 Km south of Amara. The clashes started when joint troops raided and searched houses. 17 were killed and 36 were injured, health officials said. Diyala - One citizen was killed and 20 were injured including police members in different attacks in Diyala province, Iraqi police said. Al Anbar - Around 6:30 a.m. a truck bomb exploded near Fallujah communications building in a market place in central Fallujah. A man driving the car parked his truck loaded with barrels and carrying a grenade threatening those who might approach him and pulled out a wire. He detonated the car and fled the place. The bombing caused big damages to about 50 shops, street vendors and 3 restaurants. 5 civilians were killed and 14 were injured. Saladin Province - Around 8:30 p.m. a suicide truck exploded targeting Iraqi security troops who took Al Mutawakil schools as headquarter in central Samara. Five sedan vehicles loaded with gunmen attacked the place as a diversion. 4 soldiers and 1 civilian killed and 6 soldiers were injured.
