White House, Congress getting 'very close' to debt deal

White House and congressional negotiators on Sunday were getting close to a $3 trillion, last-minute deal to break the deadlock over raising the nation's debt ceiling. "We're very close," Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said. "I can pretty confidently say this debt ceiling increase will avoid default."
