New Kansas governor reverses Sebelius on coal-fired plant

In a stunning reversal from his predecessor, Gov. Mark Parkinson has agreed to the construction of a coal-fired power plant in western Kansas. The compromise allows Sunflower Electric Power Corp. to build one 895-megawatt coal-fired power instead of two 700-megawatt plants that Kathleen Sebelius vetoed as governor.
