Flame retardants might pose risks for gymnasts, researchers suggest

As girls, a group of 11 gymnasts spent many hours each week perfecting their sport in gyms that had pits filled with foam blocks for protection. Now young women, they agreed to be tested in a new study that found that the flame retardants in the blocks can break down in dust and end up in gymnasts’ bodies.
