The winner of a $400 million Powerball lottery ticket has come forward to claim his prize -- but he wants to remain anonymous.
The Columbia, S.C. man was at home alone Thursday when he realized he had won, said Paula Harper Bethea, executive director of the S.C. Education Lottery. With no one home to tell, the man, who is married, told his dog, Bethea said.
The winning ticket was sold at a Lexington Murphy USA gas station. The winning numbers of 7-10-22-32-35 with the Powerball of 19 were drawn Wednesday night.
The jackpot was the largest a Powerball ticket sold in South Carolina has ever fetched and the fourth largest in the history of the game.
