Freeways no longer? Interstates might get more tolls

The last thing a public that’s paying $4 for a gallon of gasoline wants to hear is that more taxes or tolls might be necessary to keep up with the maintenance of the nation’s highways. But transportation experts and officials almost universally agree that if Americans want to drive on good roads, they’re going to have to pay more for them, or do without.
