BP fails in latest bid to cap Gulf oil leak amid liability concerns

BP failed Saturday to thread a mile-long tube into the broken pipe that's spewing oil into the Gulf of Mexico, but officials said efforts to break up the oil underwater seemed to be working. The failure came as Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano wrote BP in an effort to get something in writing confirming that the oil company won't try to limit its liability for damages from the spill.
