The Obama administration said this morning it will reduce the federal government's greenhouse gas emissions 28 percent by 2020.
The White House said the government, the nation’s largest energy consumer, aims to lead by example in curbing emissions linked to climate change. No legal limits exist on releasing carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
Achieving the administration’s mandate will reduce federal energy use by an amount equal to taking 17 million cars off the road for a year, the White House said.
