11-year-old spotted huge Florida snake, underscoring state's alarm

Florida has begun an experimental program to track and kill Burmese pythons, which have spread throughout southern Florida. But the 17-foot monster found and killed on Thursday south of Lake Okeechobee wasn't spotted by a state-licensed hunter; an 11-year-old boy playing on the grounds of his uncle's veterinary hospital spotted the snake in a drainage ditch.
