'Cash for clunkers' boosts car sales in Sacramento

Dusty SUVs, minivans, and a pair of late-'80s Cadillac DeVilles were among the old vehicles that lined Maita Toyota's lot on Tuesday, each with a yellow slip on the dashboard: "Cash for Clunkers." The dealership has traded 37 new vehicles for 37 clunkers under the federal government's "cash for clunkers" program, which has brought more foot traffic and new sales to auto dealers, giving a boost to sluggish summer sales.
