Visitors to the 49th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will find several exhibitors with a 'green' tint to their products and services.
One is the Island Pilot DSe Hybrid, a 39-foot motoryacht that combines solar, diesel and electric power in a livable family cruiser.
The boat's catamaran hull may look familiar to some South Florida residents: it's the same SWATH design used on the Nekton fleet of dive boats docked at Port Everglades. The Island Pilot makes up to six knots using only its six-kilowatt solar array.
