Two people were killed and at least four injured Tuesday when a high-rise construction crane collapsed just north of downtown Miami, crashing through the roof of a nearby, low-slung building.
A section of the crane plunged from the Paramount Bay Condo, a 46-story luxury building under construction. The section, essentially an extension, apparently was being raised to the top of the building when it broke loose and fell. ''I watched it go through the roof,'' said Mike Huffstutlear, a dry wall supervisor.
Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss confirmed that two people were killed in the accident. One of the victims died at the scene, he said. The other was pronounced dead at a hospital. He said rescuers were looking for other possible victims.
