The United States dropped the most powerful nonnuclear bomb in its arsenal on what it said was an ISIS cave complex in remote Afghanistan. The bomb — called the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast — can obliterate everything within a 1,000-yard radius.
(Video has no sound) San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said that two adults are dead in what appeared to be a murder-suicide shooting at North Park Elementary School. At least two students were taken to a hospital with injuries. Other students in the school were evacuated and taken to a nearby school.
On Air Force One on his way to Florida, President Donald Trump responded to the chemical weapons attack against civilians in Syria. "What happened in Syria is a disgrace to humanity," Trump said. Later Thursday evening, the U.S. fired more than 50 tomahawks against Syria in retaliation.

This week, Al Ali flew to America for a practice session with her favorite team, the Washington Capitals. Her visit is part of the NHL's "Hockey is for Everyone" month, an initiative to become more diverse and inclusive.
Education Secretary Besty DeVos' visit to Jefferson Middle School Academy in Southwest Washington, D.C. on Friday was blocked by protesters. One eyewitness who was streaming the protest on Periscope captured the arrest of one protester. DeVos eventually made it inside the school, meeting with district officials, as well as Jefferson Academy administration, teachers and students.
A knife-wielding man attacked French soldiers on patrol near the Louvre Museum in Paris on Friday in what officials described as a suspected terror attack. The soldiers first tried to fight off the attacker and then opened fire, shooting him five times.
