Ex-CalPERS chief pleads guilty to bribery, steering investments

The former chief of the giant California Public Employee Retirement System pleaded guilty Friday to conspiring to trade his influence in channeling billions of dollars in CalPERS’ investments in exchange for $250,000 in bribes, travel in the United States and abroad, meals, gifts and payment for his wedding.
