ROCK HILL -- A copper thief struck a Rock Hill Kentucky Fried Chicken on Thursday, causing more than $3,000 in damages and stolen copper and unknown losses in thawed food.
When an employee of the Anderson Road KFC arrived Thursday morning, the walk-in freezer was not working so she called the repair company, a Rock Hill Police report said.
The repairman found that four copper pipes leading from the building to the compressors for the freezer had been cut off, causing $3,000 in damage.
The cover to one of the compressors had been removed so someone could stand on it to reach the copper pipes coming out of the building, the report said.
The food had spoiled.
Police are investigating the incident.
