Cold-case probe links mob to murder of KC civil rights leader

The police investigation of the killing of Leon Jordan 40 years ago found evidence that now-deceased Kansas City mob boss Nick Civella gave his blessing to the hit, which allegedly was carried out by black assailants connected with Joe Centimano, a low-profile mob associate. Still unclear is why Civella, at the time one of the nation's most prominent organized crime bosses, targeted Jordan.
