DNA leads to guilty plea in 1980 Miami rape and murder

A DNA match led police to a man who raped and killed a Miami woman almost three decades ago, authorities said.
Police said Bruce Albert Tessier, 69, confessed to the 1980 killing of 20-year-old Dana Maria Lindenberg.
Miami-Dade cold-case detectives obtained an arrest warrant on second-degree murder charges for Tessier, who was already in a Florida prison for killing another woman in 1989.
Detectives reopened Lindenberg's case last year and submitted DNA. The DNA found on Lindenberg matched evidence from the 1983 killing of Lynn Julin in Lake Worth.
The DNA led authorities to Tessier, who had originally been a suspect in Lindenberg's death. Police questioned Tessier in prison and first charged him with Julin's murder. In June, he pleaded guilty to that crime.
A week later, he confessed to killing Lindenberg, according to the arrest warrant by Miami-Dade police Detective Terry Goldston.
