Bomb kills at least 60 at Iraqi funeral

BAGHDAD, Iraq — BAGHDAD, Iraq _ At least 60 people died Thursday when bombers targeted the funeral of two Sunni Muslim tribesmen who'd belonged to a council that was fighting against al Qaida in Iraq, police said.
The men were members of the Sunni “awakening” movement, armed by the U.S. military to battle al Qaida in Iraq. Authorities think that al Qaida-allied group was behind the latest bombing along with a series of blasts Tuesday in Baghdad and three provincial capitals in which 60 people died and nearly 120 were wounded.
Several members of awakening councils have been targeted and killed in the past few months. Bombs killed one council member and wounded five in Kirkuk on Sunday.
