Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq, Monday 11 August 2008

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy near Beirut Square, northeastern Baghdad at 9 a.m. Monday injuring two civilians.

A civilian sedan blew up near al-Baydhaa Cinema in New Baghdad at 10.30 a.m. The vehicle turned out to have had an adhesive exploding device stuck to it. The explosion killed the driver.

A roadside bomb targeted a U.S. military convoy in Shaab, northern Baghdad at 11 a.m. No casualties were reported.

A Katyusha rocket fell on a civilian house in Shaab neighbourhood, northern Baghdad at around 1 a.m. Monday injuring three civilians.

A roadside bomb targeted a Traffic Police car near al-Gailani shrine in central Baghdad injuring eight people, four policemen and four civilians.

Two unidentified bodies were found in Baghdad by Iraqi Police today; the first in New Baghdad and the other in al-Shurta al-Khamisa.

Diyala

A roadside bomb targeted a pickup truck carrying civilians in Wajihiyah district, 25 km to the east of Baquba killing five women, injuring three men.

A female suicide bomber targeted al-Sharqi Police Station in central Baquba killing one policeman, injuring seventeen people including thirteen policemen and four civilians one of whom was a child.

Basra

A roadside bomb targeted a police checkpoint in Abu al-Khaseeb area, 20 km to the south of the city of Basra injuring two policemen.
