U.S. stocks fall again in a day of unprecedented wild swings

The worst week in Wall Street history came to close Friday with an eighth straight day of losses. For the first time in years, the Dow slumped below 8,000 before recovering to finish at 8,451.91, down another 128 points. The Dow swung more than 1,000 points during the day, the largest trading range ever for the index.
