OAKDALE -- A man and his adult son died in an apparent murder-suicide Saturday morning, and the man's wife was shot, police said.

Charles Massey, 66, died in his house in the 200 block of North Oak Avenue, holding a black .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun. Police suspect he shot himself. A typed note next to his body outlined concerns about his finances and losses in the stock market, police said.

Massey's son, 37-year old Thomas Massey, died at Oak Valley Hospital.

Massey's wife, Belinda Massey, 58, was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. She can communicate by nodding yes and shaking her head no, Oakdale police Lt. Lester Jenkins said, adding that her condition had not changed Saturday night.

The three had single gunshot wounds to the head, Jenkins said.
