Democrat Barack Obama's visit to a Boca Raton synagogue Thursday has been pushed back several hours so he can fly to Washington for Senate debate on the Iraq war and veterans' benefits.

Obama, however, will still make a scheduled appearance at B'nai Torah Congregation, at 4 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled noon. He will be introduced by U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, who represents the area and serves as co-chairman of Obama's campaign in Florida.

At the synagogue, Obama is expected to reassure the audience that he would be a staunch ally of Israel. Exit polls show Jewish voters favored Hillary Clinton in the Jan. 29 presidential primary. Obama also still plans to attend $1,000-per-person fundraisers Thursday evening in Hollywood and Miami Beach. On Friday, he will address the Cuban American National Foundation and headline a rally at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise.
