Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq - Tuesday 27 January 2009

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.
Baghdad
A roadside bomb targeted the motorcade of General Ahmed Jassim, Chief of Mid Region Customs Police in Karrada, central Baghdad at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The explosion injured three customs policemen and caused severe damages to one of the vehicles.
Nineveh
A parked car bomb targeted an Iraqi Army patrol in Faisaliyah neighbourhood, downtown Mosul at 1.30 p.m. Tuesday Killing four servicemen including one officer, injuring two two others.
Gunmen attempted to assasinate a member of the Assyrian Party in al Hamdaniyah neighbourhood, Mosul City late Tuesday. The gunmen got away.
