The daily Iraqi violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It’s posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy’s Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

The chairman of the observation and complaints department in the integrity committee, Mudhaffar Turki, survived an assassination attempt when men with machine guns opened fire on his car in Zayuna neighborhood in east Baghdad on Wednesday night. Turky and another man who was with him in the car were injured in the attack and were taken to one of the hospitals of Baghdad.

Two civilians were injured when an IED exploded in the neighborhood of Saadoun in downtown Baghdad around 11:00 a.m.

Police found two unidentified bodies in Baghdad. The two bodies were found in Zayuna neighborhood in east Baghdad.

Anbar

Police found three bodies in al Qaim city, northwest of Ramadi. Police said that the corpses eye's were blindfolded and covered in bullet wounds.

One civilian was killed and two others were wounded in an IED explosion in Habbaniyah, west of Ramadi.

Diyala

A member of the supporting council (awakening council) was killed by a sniper in al Sheikhi area in south Baquba on Thursday afternoon.

Gunmen burned down five homes in al Mhawla village. east of Baquba.

Basra

Gunmen kidnapped the director of the southern branch of the electricity company while returning from Karbala. The incident took place on Basra- Misan Street south of Iraq on Thursday afternoon.
