Round-up of Daily Violence in Iraq-Sunday 30 December 2007

The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.
Baghdad
- Around 10 a.m. a bomb attached to a fireman's personal car in Al Shaab neighborhood exploded injuring two civilians, police said.
- Police found two bodies throughout Baghdad.
Kirkuk
- Gunmen kidnapped 13 citizens near Sarha Bridge south of Kirkuk. Police said the gunmen set a phony checkpoint and stopped three cars and kidnapped the passengers.
Basra
- Basra police chief Abdul Jalil Khalaf survived two assassinations attempts in two hours today. The first was when two roadside bombs targeted his convoy as he was heading to a tribal conference in northern Basra. On the way back another two roadside bombs exploded causing damages to one of the convoy's cars and injuring one bodyguard.
