Campers will be forced to leave Yosemite National Park and other national parks today by 3 p.m. as the effects of the government shutdown enter a third day with no sign of ending. The shutdown could last through negotiations to raise the debt ceiling, which must be done by Oct. 17 so the U.S. does not default on paying its bills. Your quick catch-up guide:

Wendy Davis is expected to announce today that she will run for Governor of Texas. The State Senator and her pink shoes became well-known after she fillibustered to prevent abortion restrictions. Davis trails in the polls.

And two months from today, Tom Clancy's latest book will be released, "Command Authority." The author died Tuesday at 66.
