McConnell raises $715,000 for campaign, bringing total to $7.4 million

U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell raised $715,000 in the last three months of 2012 for his re-election campaign, bringing his campaign total to $7.4 million, campaign manager Jesse Benton said.

"Leader McConnell's prolific fundraising will allow us to make Kentucky a new standard of excellence in campaigning the entire country will look to," Benton told Politico. "We will have the best tools and vast resources to make sure we communicate to every Kentuckian about Sen. McConnell's tremendous leadership and the service he provides every day for our state."

So far, no one has announced to run against McConnell in 2014. Actress Ashley Judd is considering the race as a Democratic candidate, and several Tea Party groups in Kentucky have said they are looking for a candidate to run.

McConnell spent $170,000 from his campaign account during the last three months of 2012, Benton said.
