The Economy Drug Store featured a Santa Claus in military hat saluting. It was four days after the attack on Pearl Harbor and the influence of local military base expansion could be seen in the selection of some items and free gift wrapping and packaging for mailing.

Mennen Military Toilet Kit for $2.50, contained Skin Bracer, talcum for men, foot powder and Menthol-iced Lather Shave, in a simulated leather case.

Women’s gifts included Ponds cold cream for 28 cents or Wembdon Lavender dusting powder for $1.00.

Most of the ad copy is standard fare but the copy writer for Jewelite hair brushes deserves a raise.
