The Miami Herald will produce two live video shows on Monday about the final debate between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
The debate, the last major event of the presidential campaign, will take place at Lynn University in Boca Raton and the focus will be foreign policy.
The Herald shows, special editions of World Desk with John Yearwood, will explore the candidates’ views about Latin America and the Caribbean.
The first show will broadcast live at noon from The Herald’s video studio. Yearwood, the newspaper’s world editor, will be joined by Marleine Bastien, executive director of Haitian Women of Miami (FANM), and Herald Editorial Page Editor Myriam Marquez.
Immediately after the debate, Herald foreign correspondents and international experts will join Yearwood for a 30-minute Google Hangout to analyze the debate and examine the candidates’ vision for Latin America and the Caribbean. Panelists include Latin America columnist Andres Oppenheimer, international business writer Mimi Whitefield, South America bureau chief Jim Wyss, attorney and women’s rights advocate Lorna Owens and Cuban radio personality Ninoska Perez.
