At the 37,500 acre Viales National Park, in Vinales, Cuba, seen March 29, 2012, environmentalists study ways to protect the vast Karst mountains that are home to an array of endemic plants and animals, such as the famous "painted snails." Legend has it that their vibrant orange and yellow swirled shells were painted by the sun. Environmentalist also work with local farmers to promote environmentally friendly, sustainable agriculture that won't damage the valley, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Franco Ordonez/MCT)
