Ron Paul to make Fort Worth appearance

email this story print this story jump to comments

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul is talking to voters in his home state this week in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

Paul, of Lake Jackson, will hold a series of town hall meetings in Texas this week, including one at 7 p.m. today at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. He was also scheduled to speak in College Station on Tuesday and will appear in San Antonio on Thursday.

Paul, the last Texan in the GOP presidential race, has drawn large crowds at town hall meetings across the country, most recently a series of meetings in California and in his hometown of Lake Jackson.

In those town halls, the 12-term Texas congressman has spoken about the need to return the Republican Party to its roots of limited government, elaborated on his anti-war position and laid out elements of his "Plan to Restore America."

"Come out and show your support for Ron Paul's message of peace, prosperity and individual liberty," the invitation says. "And bring any undecided voters you know with you, too!"

Paul trails the three other Republican presidential candidates -- former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who suspended his campaign Tuesday, and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Texans will have their say in the race in the May 29 primary election.
