Jerry Sandusky's attorney says he needs time to interview witnesses and is asking that the former defense coordinator's trial be pushed back into the summer.

Joe Amendola has filed a motion to delay the trial until mid-July. The judge hearing the case tentatively set the trial for May 14.

A spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office said he wasn’t aware the motion was filed and did not comment.

Amendola wrote that the defense team will need more time to find and locate witnesses whose identities were included in evidence handed over by prosecutors. Their addresses and phone numbers were redacted, Amendola wrote.

Amendola also said he’d like to have expert witnesses testify at trial, and they’d need time to review the case.

In addition, Amendola is also asking for more time to respond to file a pre-trial motion that has a deadline of Thursday.

Earlier this month, a judge ruled that a Centre County jury would hear the case if it goes to trial.

Sandusky, 68, remains on house arrest awaiting trial on 52 counts of abusing young boys he met through The Second Mile. He denies the allegations.
