Chiquita Brands International will move its global headquarters to Charlotte, lured by $22.7 million in state and local incentives.

The company is set to bring 417 jobs to the city. It wasn't immediately known how many will be employees who relocate from Cincinnati, Ohio, where Chiquita currently employs about 400 people. The jobs will have an average salary of $96,121, according to a state incentives package, and must be in Charlotte by 2014.

In addition to the headquarters, the company will also have a research and development facility in Mecklenburg County, at a site still to be determined.

The incentives package includes $20.2 million from the state and $2.5 million from Mecklenburg and the city of Charlotte.

The state's Economic Investment Committee voted to approve the incentives early Tuesday. A Department of Commerce spokesman said the move is "a done deal."
