WICHITA — He was leaving Towne East mall with some freshly purchased clothes early Wednesday evening. The next thing he knew, he awoke wearing only a shirt in the trunk of a strange car early on Thursday morning and someone was telling him to get out.
They then abandoned him there in rural Sedgwick County, he told authorities.
The 36-year-old man needed five stitches to close a cut over his eye, and a police report noted he had red marks on his wrists consistent with being tied up.
Initial reports indicated the man was fully naked when he awoke.
"My gut tells me there's more to this story," Wichita police Lt. Joe Cutcliff said. "But until we're able to get into the middle of it...
"We'll see. It might be accurate. You never know."
