Gingrich calls for 'new tax cut' for economy

In his newsletter this week former U.S House speaker Newt Gingrich calls for Washington to pass a "powerful tax cut and regulatory reform package" to get the nation's economy back on track.

He also says there is a need for a "American Energy Program" that creates jobs here at home. He said such a program would not just create jobs in the energy sector but lowering the cost of gasoline, heating oil and eletricity would stimulate job creation throughout the economy.

He also says the country needs to cut spending decisively to create the fiscal space for a pro-growth economic policy.
