The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

Two mortar rounds slammed into the Green Zone at around dawn, Sunday. No casualties were reported. A third round slammed into Qadisiyah residential neighbourhood, that lies adjacent to the Green Zone, but it hit an empty plot of land and caused no casualties.

Nineveh

Armed men shot and killed a security guard who works in Juvenile Hall, in front of his house in Tel al Rumman neighbourhood, west Mosul, Sunday.

Armed men in a speeding car attacked an army checkpoint in Karama neighbourhood, late Saturday, seriously injuring two army servicemen.

Diyala

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a motorbike detonated while parked in the main Baquba – Baghdad coach station in central Baquba, Sunday, causing minor injuries to five civilians.

Three mortar rounds fell in Atheim area, north of Baquba, injuring three civilians, including one woman.

Salahuddin

Armed men attacked a Sahwa (U.S sponsored militia later turned over to the Iraqi government) checkpoint in the city of Samarra, south of Tikrit, injuring two members.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in east Tikrit, Sunday, injuring two policemen.
