The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

An armed grouping a black SUV with shaded windows parked by Lady of Salvation church in central Baghdad and engaged its guards killing two and injuring four civilians. Another vehicle joined it and they broke into the church where evening mass was being held. Security forces arrived a while later and surrounded the church and broke in in spite of the many hostages held by the armed group, fought a battle inside the church during which 52 were killed, including seven security servicemen and 64 were injured including 15 security servicemen, according to a source in the interior ministry. Eye witnesses said that the toll may be higher.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians near the entrance to Tu'ma neighbourhood, Dora, south Baghdad, at 8 a.m. Sunday, injuring two.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Saidiyah neighbourhood, south Baghdad, at around 8 a.m. Sunday, injuring two policemen and one civilian.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the car of Adnan Attallah, commander of Saba' al Bor, a southern suburb of Baghdad, detonated at around 11 a.m. Sunday, killing Attallah and injuring three civilians on the street.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Rafah intersection in Dora, south Baghdad, Saturday, injuring three civilians.

Diyala

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of Shaima Mohammed, member of Diyala provincial council, detonated in Fallaha Square, central Baquba, at 1.30 p.m. Sunday, seriously injuring her husband.

A roadside bomb targeted the motorcade of Taha Dira', former MP for State of Law coalition (headed by PM Maliki) near the entrance to the town of Khalis, 15 km to the north of Baquba, at 1.15 p.m. Sunday, killing his office manager and seriously injuring one of his security guards.

The bodies of two brothers, one 16 and the other 14 years old, were found in an orchard in Wujaihiyah, Muqdadiyah district, 3 km to the northeast of Baquba, Saturday. The boys were both shot in the head and chest.

Nineveh

A mortar round slammed into an army headquarters in Harmat neighbourhood, west Mosul at 5 p.m. Sunday, injuring four soldiers.

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol I Tahrir neighbourhood, east Mosul, Saturday, injuring three civilians.

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Tel al Rumman neighbourhood injuring three policemen.

A suicide bomber driving a car bomb targeted the headquarters of a police force in Bursa neighbourhood, west Mosul, killing one policeman and injuring seven others.
