The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a car carrying an Iraqia (state backed) satellite channel reporter, Alaa Muhsin, detonated in Saidiyah neighbourhood, south Baghdad, Monday, seriously injuring Muhsin.

Men armed with pistols fitted with silencers opened fire at a car carrying Ali Mohammed Ghanim, a senior employee in the President's staff in Iskan neighbourhood, west Baghdad at 10 p.m. Sunday, seriously injuring Ghanim and another man who was with him in the car.

Men armed with pistols fitted with silencers opened fire at a car driven by police Captain Haider Zuhair, near Zawraa Park in Mansour neighbourhood, west Baghdad at 9.30 p.m. Sunday, killing him at once.

Men armed with pistols fitted with silencers shot and killed a Police Brig. Gen. who was the liaison of Maysan police checkpoints in the interior ministry in Baghdad. The incident took place near the National Theatre in Karrada, central Baghdad, at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Nineveh

Armed men drove up to a house in Tanak neighbourhood, west Mosul, Sunday, and shot dead two young men – brothers, who lived there.

Kirkuk

A parked car bomb targeted the motorcade of Chief of Iraqi Police in Kirkuk, Col. Ahmed Resheed, at 7.30 a.m. Monday, injuring the colonel and three of his security guards. The explosion also wounded three civilians.

Armed men stormed the house of medical doctor, Mohammed Adnan, and shot and killed the doctor, Monday, with the whole family inside the house.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the car of a Sahwa leader in Hawijah area, west Kirkuk province, detonated, Sunday. The commander was not inside his car when it blew up.
