The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of intelligence captain Muthenna Ahmed detonated in Ghazaliyah neighbourhood, west Baghdad, at 4 p.m. Monday, killing Ahmed.

Armed men in a speeding car assassinated an officer in the Iraqi army in Jami'a neighbourhood, west Baghdad, at 7.30 a.m. Monday.

A roadside bomb targeted an army patrol in Aden Square, Hurriyah neighbourhood, northwestern Baghdad, at 1.30 p.m. Monday, injuring four army servicemen.

Armed men assassinated an employee in the Baghdad governorate office in Dola'i, Hurriyah neighbourhood, northwest Baghdad, late Sunday.

Diyala

Armed confrontations between armed men and the security forces in Hdayida village, a western suburb of Baquba, started Friday and ended Sunday during which 11 army servicemen were killed and 22 army and police members were injured.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a minibus detonated on the main bridge in central Baquba, Sunday, killing the driver and one passenger and seriously injuring the two other passengers.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of a captain in the army, detonated while he was taking his family for an Eid (religious holiday) visit to relatives, Sunday. The captain was killed; both his wife and mother were seriously injured.

Anbar

Gunmen booby trapped the home of a policeman in Ameriyat al Fallujah, 30 km to the south of Fallujah. The home-made explosives exploded at dawn, Monday, killing the policeman and seriously injuring two of his family members, including his mother.
