The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

A Katyusha rocket slammed into the Green Zone, central Baghdad, at 5.30 a.m. Tuesday. No casualties were reported.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to a civilian car detonated in Amil neighbourhood, southwest Baghdad, at 8 a.m. Tuesday severely injuring the two civilians in the car.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the car of a traffic-police officer, detonated just as he got out in the car park outside his office (Karkh Directorate of Traffic Police), in Tobchi, northwest Baghdad. No casualties were reported.

Three home made bombs detonated in quick succession in the main shopping district, 20 Street, in Bayaa neighbourhood, southwest Baghdad, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, killing two civilians and injuring eight others. Ten minutes later, two more home made bombs detonated at the other end of Bayaa, near Saidiyah neighbourhood, targeting a police patrol, killing two civilians and injuring two policemen and 10 civilians.

Babil

Armed men shot and killed the leader of Jurf al Sakhr Support Council (much like Sahwa Councils, but in mostly Shiite neighbourhoods), in Jurf al Sakhr area, north Babil, Tuesday, and injured two of his security guards.

Kirkuk

Armed man shot and killed Adnan Khidhir, a civilian owner of a currency exchange business in Kirkuk city, late Monday.

Salahuddin

Armed men opened fire at a member of the Asayesh (Kurd intelligence) and a football player walking down a street in the mostly Kurdish Tuz district, to the northeast of Tikrit, injuring them both.

Nineveh

Armed men opened fire upon a police patrol in Mahrooq Square, east Mosul, Monday, injuring six civilians.

Armed men threw a home made bomb at a crowd of civilians in Sarjkhana neighbourhood, central Mosul, late Sunday, injuring nine.

A roadside bomb targeted an Iraqi army patrol in al Majmu'a al Thaqafiyah neighbourhood, north Mosul, late Sunday, injuring six soldiers and two policemen who were with the military patrol.
