The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.

Baghdad

Armed men opened fire at Muhammed Kheleel Wardi, deputy to the agricultural minister, while he was driving across 14 July Bridge, Adhamiyah neighbourhood, north Baghdad, at 9.30 p.m. Tuesday. Wardi was severely injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

A roadside bomb targeted the house of sheikh Hameed Hasen al Zowba'i, a Sahwa commander, in Radhwaniyah district, southwest Baghdad, at 8 a.m. Tuesday, injuring his wife and daughter.

A roadside bomb targeted civilians in Haifa Street, central Baghdad at noon, Tuesday, without any casualties.

A magnetic bomb stuck to a civilian car, detonated in Ameriyah neighbourhood, west Baghdad, Tuesday, after the driver had parked and walked a small distance away, damage to the car, causing no casualties, only material damage to the car.

Diyala

A car bomb parked in the main marketplace in the small town of Qara Teppa, Khanaqeen district, 100 km to the east of Baquba, detonated Tuesday morning, targeting civilians, killing two including a little girl, and injuring 17, some of who were women and children. Toll may rise, said security authorities, because some of the injuries were serious.

A car bomb parked in the car park in front of a roadside diner in Jdaidat al Shat area, 20 km to the southwest of Baquba, exploded targeting Iranian pilgrims on their way to the sacred shrines, killing four pilgrims and injuring another four.

Kirkuk

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in 1st March intersection in the centre of Kirkuk city, at 8 a.m. Tuesday, injuring three policemen.

Nineveh

Armed men threw a home made bomb at a police patrol in Maydan neighbourhood, central Mosul, Tuesday, injuring six civilians.

A roadside bomb blew up as an armed man was planting it in Shurta nighbourhood, north Mosul, Tuesday. The explosion killed only him.

A suicide bomber wearing a suicide vest was detected while attempting to place himself conveniently to target civilians in an open-air marketplace in Tali'a neighbourhood, Tel Afar district, west Mosul, Monday. Iraqi army servicemen engaged him and killed him before he detonated.

Salahuddin

A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Zuhur neighbourhood, central Tikrit, Tuesday, injuring four policemen.
