The daily Iraq violence report is compiled by McClatchy Newspapers Special Correspondents in Baghdad from police, military and medical reports. This is not a comprehensive list of all violence in Iraq, much of which goes unreported. It's posted without editing as transmitted to McClatchy's Washington Bureau.


Police Col. Eed al Namis, Chief of Qayara police survived an assassination attempt, Saturday, when armed men opened fire upon his motorcade in Qayara district, south Mosul. Namis and two other police officers were injured. During the ensuing search operations for the "armed men", another policeman was killed and another police colonel was injured by the armed group, who got away.

A magnetic bomb that was stuck to the private car of an Iraqi soldier, detonated, Saturday, in Wadi Hajar neighbourhood, south Mosul, killing the soldier.


A roadside bomb targeted a police patrol in Ameriyat al Fallujah, 30 km to the south of the city of Fallujah, killing one policeman and seriously injuring three others. The vehicle they were in was destroyed.
