Fear looms on the horizon for people as they age, but it's not the fear of dying. Rather, more older Americans dread the possibility of not having saved enough for their retirements, a newly released AARP poll shows.
Three-fifths of people ages 44 to 75 worry about outliving their retirement funds, survey results show, and more than half worry that they won't be able to pay for their basic expenses during their golden years.
In particular, the survey shows, people whose retirement funds hinge on 401(k) plans or personal savings are considerably more alarmed about their future financial prospects than those who have traditional pension benefit plans provided by longtime employers.
